Canon PowerShot G12 Review
by Josie on Feb.07, 2011, under New Cameras, Photography
The versatile Canon PowerShot G11 was always going to be a tough act to follow, but Canon has proven it’s possible to create an even better advanced compact, with the release of the feature-packed G12.
Outwardly, very little has changed in terms of the control layout when comparing the G12 to its predecessor, but inside, there’s a fair few new features and functions to get your teeth into. Video enthusiasts will relish the updated HD 720p movie recording feature, complete with stereo sound, while photographers with a penchant for HDR receive the added benefit of a rather good in-camera HDR mode, which produces pretty impressive results.
AF performance is stunning, as is – predictably – image quality. Whether you shoot RAWs or JPEGs, the G12 delivers detailed shots with a wide dynamic range, faithful colours and well-controlled noise. All-in-all, if you’re looking for an advanced compact that offers a superb shooting experience: look no further!
